Change Of Plans

This has been an interesting week.  I received news that my father would be coming home from the hospital.  After weeks of being told he would transition to a rehab facility for the next leg of his hip revision we found out he'd be coming home in two days.  The scramble began to get a handicap ramp built. That changed my plans for Wednesday and really set me back as I had a standing appointment at the Potomac District Office today.  Today's meeting lasted from 10AM till 3PM and cost me 6 hours of drive time.  It was a long day followed by parent/teacher conferences this evening.

I want to say how thankful I am for the work of a friend of mine, Phil Foster.  Pastor Phil was my pastor when I was a teenager, my boss when I was hired onto his staff out of college, my colleague when I was planting Severn River Church, and more than ever my friend over the last two years.  As inconvenient as it was for my schedule, and I'm sure his, it was very nice just to spend time with him.  Also this morning he came back and worked with a few other men from Pasadena A/G Church to finish it up.  I want to thank them as well.

I also want to say that I'm very thankful for the gift that Lighthouse Church gave to my parents by putting God's love into action.  Upon hearing his need they generously donated the cost of materials for the ramp to be built.  It was a tremendous blessing, and deeply appreciated.

This week has been a constantly changing schedule (Not the way I prefer to operate), but hey that helps me be able to look forward to next week.  It also gives me a host of things for which to be thankful next Thursday at the Thanksgiving table.
