Who's My Buddy?

I often ask Carson, "Who's my buddy?"  He is learning that he is my buddy, and I love him a ton.  This morning he woke up a little early, so I held him on my lap during devotions.  He sat so still while I read the words of Habakkuk and prayed.  My daily prayer time includes prayer for myself, areas of my life that I devote to God, prayers for my wife and family.  It was a joy this morning to lay my hands on Carson's head and pray for him.

One of the things I love is that I pray Luke 2:52 over my children so often that he repeats the words: Wisdom, Stature, Favor with God and Man.  When I was a boy I had a friend named Johnny Lowe.  His dad prayed over him, and when I would spend the night I would hear Mr. Bill pray those words over his sons.  I decided at 8 years old that when I had children I would pray that over them as well.

I want to encourage you to take time to pray for your children, but more importantly make sure you pray with your children.  The words your children hear you pray over them shape their life.
